19×56 Dersham
Overview

This boat is a custom commission from a team of people that plan to run the Kootenai River from Alberta, Canada to Astoria, Oregon
The project here is to carry four people and a week of gear across river water and large lakes. This boat displaces 1500lbs with seven inches of draft. It is big enough to deck as a Grand Canyon dory and still a managable size for the upper portions of the Kootenai River. I've purposely kept the bottom a bit narrow for the size so the boat is fast on the water and can be rowed against the strong winds of the Columbia river gourge. If they need to get moving against tough wind the back seat is set up as a rowing station so two people can put their backs into it.

This is a big expedition boat made to easily carry four people and gear or for the guide that rows from the back station with four clients up front. It can handle class IV water with a wet ride. A high side version is an option to stay dry in the big water.
I recommend the low side version of this boat for all but the biggest water because wind can make the rower work hard to move this heavy load. It has a low front for more visibility and low profile in the wind.
